An optical instrument or toy that shows the persistence of an impression upon the eye.

Thaumatrope Theatre (n.): A (very) new production company based in Toronto, Ontario founded to facilitate artistic exploration by student and early-career theatre artists. We take inspiration from the thaumatrope, an object which creates an effect of separate images converging into one, as we strive to create collaborative, energetic works of theatre which leave a persistent impression on audiences.
